Aphrodite-The Disillusionaire

So i'm officially bored.
i have nothing to do.
LAME.

Anyways... it is the eve of the first Alas the Dreamer show. Assuming everything doesn't go to shit from us not being able to sell enough tickets which is stupid. I really hate the music scene here. All bands want to do is play the music that they put countless hours into perfecting. Just to play. BUT this is america so what is the situation? any one who can be screwed out of money will be. In my time of doing anything and everything i can to play at shows for postcards i found 1 venue in the entire state that just let people play and thats been shut down because idiots who have no respect for anything got it shut down. Fuckers.

I don't know why i'm so angry at this moment. Usually the night before a show i'm having a panic attack over how i'm going to play.

ok. calm now. maybe.

On to the lighter side of music (Yes it is the only thing i think about. deal with it) Getting a formal training in music is the best thing ever i think. My dad told me yesterday that he's content paying for my college life because "i seem happy here doing my own thing then i have in years living in heber." Coming from my dad who i have very little connection too and even less in common i'd say thats a pretty big statement.

By the way my brain is going a million miles per hour so i doubt it any one "sentence" has anything to do with the next.

I'm just going to keep typing.

As the season changes it seems to me that life does too. Even though my daily schedule is basically the same i feel different every day the temperature changes. I can't put a finger on what it is but i don't like it. It almost feels as though the winter is about to put a strangle hold on me. and cut off my breath. and snuff me out. not literally of course but its very unnerving all the same.

Umm...
Concerts i've been too since moving

CHILDREN OF BODOM, Between the Buried an Me, and The Black Dahlia Murder

I've been waiting since sophmore year to see Bodom and it was everything i'd hoped Alexi Laiho is insane. the things he does with a guitar are absolutely ridiculous. BtBam was Epic Mathcore. for those of you who don't have all the metal and hardcore sub-genres memorized Mathcore is insanely technical and you have to be a real musician to play it. I wish i could just leave it there for this concert but i can't every concert i go to has that one band who bores me and it was black dahlia. Repetitive, overly fast drums, guitars that are just boring and uncomprehendable and to top it off a screamer who looks like jackson probst with no shirt on whose stage antics look like a choir conductor and he sounded like a chick.

UNEARTH, protest the hero, acacia strain, whitechapel, and gwen stacey

possibly my favorite concert so far in my life. Unearth is a huge influence to me musicly seeing them was incredible. pth couldn't make it because the axle broke on their bus. that was a bummer. acacia strain was good for being a machismo manly man metal band, whitechapel was brutal deathgrind. not the greatest of sound or anything i just liked it. and qwen stacey just irritated me.

MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER, a static lullaby, showbeard (bread?), and confide

maylene dominates southern rock. end of story. static lullaby played a Brittany spears cover (best cover ever?) showbread is the worst band i've ever seen live. i wanted to die. and confide was screamoy dissonant awesome

NORMA JEAN, haste the day, the showdown, mychildren mybride, and children 18:3

Nothing special happened at this concert really except it discovering the showdown. so all the bands at this concert are christian bands. but back to showdown. Southern Trash. so epic. if metallica(old) and pantera had a baby and lamb of god and lynard skynard had a baby and those two baby bands got together and made sweet metal band baby love the showdown would pop out in roughly 9 months. i love them.

UNDEROATH, saosin, and the devil wears prada.

it was a really cool concert minus the fact that i was pretty sick and everyone was smoking and yeah that basically made it suck. Underoath was awesome but the rest of the night was blah.

anyways i'm done now.

ps i have no roommate and i still have yet to have anyone have a sleepover with me. that is a open invitation. and to those of you who have been invited already you are totally slacking off on doing that.

I'm glad your padre is being an understanding and supportive man. That's pretty cool if you ask me. Someday I'll come hang out in the big city with you... It's kind of hard being four hours away though

I might as well be in high school, but Neil's not too cool for me.

haha.

Concerts are awesome! but Showbread was the worst. Absolute worst.

Maybe I'll stay when I come for Alas on Friday.

Love,
Berto
